Mi5 Architects’ awarded and recognised architectural public projects have been designed by Nacho Martin Asuncion y Manuel Collado Arpia since 1999. These two avant-garde, promodernist architects from Madrid College of Architecture (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) are breaking the new ground in a rather conservative engineering industry.

Mi5's main aim is to find alternative, humaniatrian approaches and new urbanism values and forms, which haven’t been well explored so far in Spain. This visual stratagem and/or constructive philosophy is lucidly manifested in the countless, bizarre and futurist state-of-the-art Mi5’s public buildings. Nowadays they can be found scattered throughout the whole country.

We could talk of Mi5 as some of the Spanish architects who collaborate to shape the aesthetics of the contemporary Modernist scene in Spain and Worldwide.

The Biggest House, La Casa Más Grande, in Rivas Vaciamadrid

One of Mi5’s current projects clearly shows the pragmatic philosophy behind Nacho’s and Manuel’s work. This new building has already been give a name, The Biggest House, or La Casa Mas Grande, and it will be the second youth centre in Rivas Vaciamadrid, Madrid, Spain.

After the first one was built, Mi5 Arquitectos designed the second one, La Casa Más Grande, which was awarded with the first prize of public work back in 2006 by Madrid Council. First due to the fact that the first building turned out to be too small, Council of Madrid Child and Youth back in 2007 decided to start this already successful project.

The Biggest House was finished only a few months ago in November 2009, and its final inauguration will take place in May, 2010, when all the young co-workers who have hooked up with Mi5 will hopefully and eventually meet their whimsical and chimerical expectations.

Architecture & Social Fantasy

Nonetheless these two enterprising architects will prove with the inauguration of this new building to have the real need to challenge the pragmatic sense and function of the public building, and to reach this goal they are to employed fantasy as a creative social engine. For this project Mi5 invited the community, in this case the youth, to engage with the design and functionality of the construction that they will eventually find in their local area.
