Twenty years ago, the only two options for reaching the continent from the United Kingdom were by air or by boat. Nowadays, since the opening of the Chunnel in the 1990's, getting to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany is fast, cheap and easy.

Transportation Options From London to Brussels

Several airlines still operate daily flights between London airports and Brussels National airport. While this is obviously the fastest way to get from one of those capitals to the other, this option has some severe disadvantages. The cost can be quite high and, most importantly, reaching the city centers from both airports can be a bit of a hassle. Reaching the center of Brussels from Zaventem, where the airport is located, can take up to one hour and can be done either by rental car or by train.

A cheaper option is to take a flight operated by one of the low-cost airlines, Ryanair and Easyjet. Unfortunately, Ryanair only operates from an airport misleadingly named Brussels South Airport, which is actually over 100 kilometers away from the Belgian capital. Easyjet does operate from Brussels National Airport, but only offers a handful of weekly flights.
